SILO
Breakdown: Premiering at TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL, Marshall Burnette’s SILO weaves a story of family, farming and the dangers that can come with putting food on the table. In 1964, professors of agriculture began keeping statistics on the frequency of silo related accidents. Since then, over 1200 farm workers have lost their lives to grain silo entrapments. Shot on KODAK film and lensed beautifully by Dustin Lane, we follow the stories of ADAM and CLAY and the midwest culture that sustains life for us through farming. Adam, 29, leaves his family to work on his grain farm– knowing every day it could be the last time he kisses them goodbye if he doesn’t use the utmost caution. Clay, 18, is on the edges of the real world– weighing his options and looking ahead at the possibilities the future holds.
